A fellow member of our beloved FFA program, Brock Hurley, came out on top beating out the final 12 of the employability skills competition at the National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis.
The employability skills contest is a Leadership Development Event that consists of submitting a professional resume and cover letter, a virtual interview, multiple rounds of in-person panel interviews, follow-up correspondence, networking activities, and phone call negotiations for a job you would like to apply for.
Across the nation, thousands of FFA members participate in this contest each year. Each state has their own regional or district contest followed by the state contest with all of the winners of the area contests. Then your state winners from each state move on to the national contest in Indianapolis at our very own National Convention.
Brock Hurley placed first in our district contest and then went on to become the Indiana Employability Skills state champ back in June. In late October, 46 states sent a winner to compete at the National Convention, with Brock representing Indiana.
Of all of the 46 representatives from the entire country, Brock Hurley took home 1st overall and was the National Champ in employability skills representing Indiana. The top 4 finalists consisted of our very own Brock Hurley representing Indiana of course, Kade Lawrance from Texas, Troy Williams from Tennessee, and Sidney Stiers from Illinois.
If you see Brock around the school at all, make sure you tell him congrats!
