The girls’ golf team had a very successful 2024 season, but unfortunately, it came to an end all too quickly. The team consisted of 10 athletes: Carly Drone, Maggie Hooker, Mallory Klingler, Kennedy Kosta, Adyson Veldman, Gracie Render, Aubrey Geleott, Payton Strange, Emily Pickering, and Aubrey Kosta. These amazing young ladies were coached by Rod Klingler. The season flew by way too fast. The girls had an incredible time this year, creating countless memories that will be cherished forever.
The Rensselaer Lady Bombers finished their season undefeated until their last nine-hole golf match. They competed in 15 matches in total – 10 nine-hole and 5 eighteen-hole matches. In the postseason, the Lady Bombers battled in Sectionals at Tippecanoe Country Club. For golf Sectionals, the top three teams and top three individuals advance to Regionals. Initially seated third behind Logansport and Rochester, the Bombers stayed focused and proved everyone wrong by beating Logansport in Sectionals. The girls placed second, granting them advancement to Regionals as a team.
On September 28, 2024, the Lady Bomber Golf Team competed in the Regional Championship at Sandy Pines. Five girls – Maggie Hooker, Carly Drone, Mallory Klingler, Aubrey Geleott, and Payton Strange – participated in golfing 18 holes on a challenging course with difficult weather conditions. After a long day, the Lady Bombers fell short of advancing to State, making it an emotional end to the girls’ golf season.
The Lady Bombers Golf Team accomplished many goals and had an outstanding year. Although it’s sad that it’s over, we thank our senior golfers – Carly Drone, Maggie Hooker, Mallory Klingler, and Kennedy Kosta – for their dedication. You will be greatly missed. Your legacy has set an amazing example for underclassmen and future golfers.
