This year, the BAM Fam has gone on 3 health career related field trips. Their first trip was September 20th to St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette. On this trip students received a tour of the campus, including viewing some simulation labs. Students were able to tour the inside of an ambulance and see how patients are cared for in that setting. The students were also able to observe the mannequins & listen to heart and lung sounds.
Their second field trip was October 10th, to a healthcare career fair near Valparaiso, Indiana. Students were able to meet with various healthcare professionals from many different healthcare facilities to explore their interests in those fields. They were able to meet with several different colleges to hear about what forms of education they would need for a career in their respective fields.
The most recent field trip taken by the BAM Fam was November 8th to Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette. The day was spent going through classrooms, observing lab areas and getting short spiels from instructors. The students were given information sheets about each pathway offered at Ivy Tech for healthcare careers.
