Hello! My name is Abby Gregorash and I recently transferred to Rensselaer Central High School from South Newton High School. I transferred about a week into school, and I’m glad to be here. South Newton was a wonderful school and brought me many friendships, but coming to Rensselaer was a better option for me.
There are many benefits from coming to a new school such as new friendships, academic choices, and sports opportunities. With this being a larger school, there are many friend groups to be around. As a new student, I’ve met lots of new faces and created friendships. Although many students are nervous when transferring to a new school, I was excited to have more opportunities and to make new friends.
Coming from a smaller school, there were less club and class options. When transitioning to Rensselaer, there are new clubs I have been introduced to and more classes I am able to be involved in. I enjoy having a variety of things to choose from such as Sunshine Society, Physics, Student Media, Biology II, and many more.
Along with that, there are a few hard things I have come across. It has been harder to transition from classes that I had to classes I don’t have. It has been challenging when it comes to catching up. It is difficult as well when you’re meeting new teachers and new classroom rules. Although, the teachers are understanding and helpful. These teachers have helped me so far and are understanding about me being a new student. I enjoy being able to communicate with my teachers about catching up, or what I am not understanding. Overall, I enjoy being a new student and there are definitely some differences.
