We talked with Mrs. Nicholes, JAG Specialist, to learn more about JAG. JAG stands for Jobs for American Graduates. The class covers career choices and guides students through employment options. The class has lots of guest speakers and field trips, for it is mostly based on attendance and participation; this is a very hands-on class. This class visits leadership and career conferences.
JAG is important because it will teach you skills you will need outside of high school. It prepares you to go into a career as it relates with how you get along with co-workers, how to find what you are meant to do in life as a career, and how to get a job and keep it.
Students in this class will participate in many team building activities. The field trips and guest speakers are essential so that students can hear and see what it looks like to do a certain job or be in a certain career. The class tries to lean on via hands-on learning. They focus mainly on hands-on because it is fun for students, but they use this practice in hopes that the students take in and retain the information better. The class will take part in various service learning activities and community building activities. It is important to be a part of your community, and make informed decisions about how your community is run.
